Contemporary Stairs

The simple sleek lines of these stairs suit many modern houses. Some staircases use vertical steel posts, wrought ironwork or glass panels as part of the balustrade. They all have an airy, clean, unfussy look to them. Tod Stairs can build the whole stair for you, including the handrail, we can cap a concrete stair, or we can just create the handrail.

Whether you are an architect, homeowner or builder, we are happy to advise you on your stair’s design before you begin building. We can often save you money when you consult us early, during the design process. We have many years experience that can help solve problems before they occur. We charge an hourly rate for this comprehensive consultation service. Our salespeople are not only salespeople; they are knowledgeable stair builders who can give you technical advice. Feel free to call us or drop by the factory in Artarmon with questions.

The places where the handrail appears to twist around corners are called wreaths. Other terms used in these stair descriptions are shown in the Parts of a Stair drawing and written definitions are given in the Stair Terms Dictionary. Both are in our Tips for Designing a Stair section. You can choose many different handrails, balusters and newel posts. These are shown in our Product Information section. Choose what suits your job best!
